Recently I found myself ordering food online instead of exclusively shopping at local supermarkets. For the most part it has been a disappointment with hard to navigate websites and bad pricing/selection. However, when I saw Starburst branded yoplait yogurt I knew I had to buy it. I'm not a big yogurt person, outside of gogurt and a few very specific types of yogurt I've not really had any since I was a little kid. But I've always held the opinion that candies like Skittles, Starburst and Jolly Rancher would be great flavors for things like soda and etc. So the flavors I got were Cherry, Strawberry and Orange which also happen to be my favorite flavors of Starburst (the lemon ones are meh!) Due to unforeseen circumstances (I foolishly assumed they would all expire around the same time) the strawberry one expired 20 days ago and I'm not going to try it. Let's get into it. Image First I tried the orange. It's not bad but it's not great. I would kind of describe it as bland. I can't say I ever remember specifically having an orange yogurt before but I can't help feeling that it's not any better than my general memories of fruit flavored yogurt. It has a taste that I think is supposed to remind you of starburst but it didn't work for me in this case. I think maybe they were too authentic with the flavor and actually needed to increase the orangeness compared to the actual candy in order to make it work with the yogurt. Next up is cherry. This one I actually like! I could see myself buying it again if one of the 2 stores I shop at start carrying it. I don't think I've ever had a cherry yogurt before because it's not really a fruit I go for typically. It has the same secondary taste the orange one had but since it is combined with a decent cherry flavor it actually works and reminds me of starburst. Out of curiosity I checked the ingredients and it included "cherry juice concentrate" as well as "natural and artificial flavors" Maybe someday I will try the strawberry and lemon flavors and update this blog but based on what I experienced with the other 2 as well as the fact that its top 3 ingredients are "yogurt, sugar, strawberries" I suspect it would be a generic strawberry yogurt flavor with that "starburst" secondary flavor added to it. I don't think I've ever had lemon yogurt so I'm not going to guess on that one. Looking at the label I also see that these contain "bioengineered food ingredients" which obviously means that my body is now slightly more bioengineered than it was before. I think I feel the laser eyes kicking in.
